Finally it is almost here, my story of surviving Internet Defamation and Invasion of Privacy.
On September 1st, Google Bomb, The Untold Story of the $11.3M Verdict That Changed the Way We Use the Internet will be on book shelves and online - giving you the inside - and backside of my landmark case.
The reviews and endorsements have been explosive! Click here to read them.
As the defendant is now being forced into involuntary bankruptcy, my story will help those that are feeling helpless and powerless to cyber slander - and hopefully give you the power to fight back and rise above Internet Defamation. Google Bomb will offer practical guidance to help you maintain your online image.
Even if you feel since you don't use social networking such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter etc.... remember, you are at risk too - someone may take it upon themselves to create their own vision of "you".
Free speech is something I believe in wholeheartedly, however it does not condone Internet Defamation.

Sue Scheff: Landmark Internet Defamation Case Goes to Collections
Free Speech will not condone defamation - and once a judgment is filed (and as in my case, domesticated) moving forward to collections is the next step. A jury awarded me over $11M in damages ($5M of it is for punitive damages) which is not dischargeable in bankruptcy count. As you have read in my previous posts, we are now in this process and I will keep you posted on the details.
The defendant will be held accountable - after both being denied to have the judgment set aside, the defendant is now facing wage garnishment, possibly personal or involuntary bankruptcy and others means of collections.
To learn more about this case, you can pre-order my new book - Google Bomb - now available for pre-order on Amazon. I believe my case is the beginning of many more - my advice, think twice before you post!

Sue Scheff Proceeds with $11M Judgment for Internet Defamation and Invasion of Privacy
For those that still are convinced that if you nothing to lose (financially or morally) - you think you have no worries as you continue to defame others online -think twice. Life as you know it can become extremely stressful - now that I have the domesticated judgment for $11.3M - an examination under oath is being scheduled for the defendant.
If she chooses to be not 100% truthful, there are many legal ways to determine the truth and what assets have been transferred to avoid being ceased.
Garnishment of wages will be included and I am confident many people in today's times would not want to be part of this.
The moral of this is - be careful what you type online - it may not only come back to haunt you, but it could definitely cost you! With today's recession the last thing you need is a judgment for any amount.
Free Speech is still alive and well - but it will never condone defamation!
Google Bomb, my next book will fully cover this subject!

Free Speech, Internet Defamation, Invasion of Privacy - $11M Collections Proceeds
I have many people emailing me as Internet Defamation is growing, however at the same time, more and more lawsuits are being filed.
My landmark case that gave me an $11.3M jury verdict for damages was the initial breakthrough, but more are coming down the pike. Here is a recent article that was posted yesterday: http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/AheadoftheCurve/Story?id=6960397&page=1
My collections on my defendant is in progress. Now the that judgment is domesticated we will be moving forward and Bock will be held accountable financially. Although many people believe that a judgment can be a useless piece of paper, it can also cost you plenty.
Remember, think before you want to use a keypad as a weapon, it could be costly!

Sue Scheff Starts in 2009 Collections for Internet Defamation
After winning an unprecedented jury verdict for damages in 2006 ($11.3M), the defendant attempted to have her judgment set aside. It was strongly denied by the State Court Judge and she lost at the state level. Bock then appealed and again lost, this time at the appellate level!
Two courts have agreed Bock is guilty of Internet defamation. Bock had strong lawyers behind her, they withdrew from the case just months before trial. Why?
Rather than immediately seeking new legal representation Bock chose to leave the state and marry her new husband, Kenneth Bock. It is believed to be her 3rd or 4th husband.
Bock claims to have been a victim of Hurricane Katrina and managed to gain support as a result of her false claims. People all over the world watched Hurricane Katrina unfold and saw the devastation. So using this as a tactic seemed effective for Bock (or so she thought).
But, what she failed to tell the public, and eventually her supporters, was that she had sold her house a month prior to the hurricane (there are court documents to support this fact) and that she was living in a beautiful gated community far from the devastation of the hurricane.
She also fails to tell the public that she attended two depositions with her attorneys after Hurricane Katrina.
So for 2009 the collections process will begin. It is time for justice.
This case has set precedence: freedom of speech, taken too far, can have dire consequences offender – even when done on the Internet.
Just because it’s the Internet and it’s easy to click away late into the night, it doesn’t make it right. New laws are being written as a result of cases like this one.
Remember, we still have freedom of speech. None of us want to loose that right. But there is a line between freedom of speech and defamation and people who cross that line need to be held accountable - not just in “real life” but also in cyber space.

The Internet: Is it being used as a WEAPON?
It seems Internet Harassment, Online Slander, Cyberbullying and other abuses in the World Wide Web is growing! I am contacted on a daily basis from victims of today's newest lethal & legal weapon to harm others - keystrokes!
You have to wonder what possesses people to feel the need to hurt others so malicously. With all of today's critical issues such as hunger, the war, homeless people etc.... We have a new group of people that simply have too much time on their hands - and take pleasure in hurting others. E-Venge seems like a good name for it. If you think about it - it is a cowardly act. They hide out behind their computers and just strike their keypads - usually anonymously.
Read through this Blog and you will see that free speech is still in place but it will not condone defamation.
Blogging is fun, the Internet can be educational - but remember, what you post today can come back to haunt you tomorrow. And could be costly to you!
